Welcome to Bury St Edmunds Presbyterian Church
We are a community of Christians of all ages, from different backgrounds and cultures, worshipping together and united in the belief that the Bible is the Word of God, and that its teachings have enduring relevance in today's world.
We seek to worship God according to his Word, which reveals to us that God sent his Son, Jesus Christ, to reconcile the world to himself. This is the gospel - the good news - of Jesus Christ, that God, through the work of his Son, has done for us what we could never have done for ourselves, and that by believing in Christ we might have new life through him.
Jesus commissioned his followers to preach this good news in all nations, to make disciples throughout the world, and to teach them all that he requires of them, that they in turn might be witnesses to the power of God to change them. Within decades, the Christian faith arrived and took root in Britain. And well over three hundred years ago a vibrant congregation, also called Presbyterian and holding the same truths that we declare, witnessed for Christ at the very place where we worship today. We seek to remain faithful in declaring and applying the gospel of Christ in this town according to the trust he has given us, and as a congregation of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church in England and Wales (EPCEW) we join with other Reformed churches in the service of the Lord Jesus Christ.
If some of these concepts are strange to you, but you have known a sense of lostness and emptiness in this world, then what you are experiencing confirms a truth about the natural condition of us all: we were all created for fellowship with God and one another, and we can only find true and lasting joy, peace and fulfilment in Christ, and in a life of service for him.
To those who desire truth and reality, direction and meaning in their lives we say this: come, see and hear what great things the Lord can do; come and hear the voice of the living God as he speaks and applies truth by his Spirit through his Word. Whatever your spiritual journey - or none - be assured of a very warm welcome in joining with us for worship of the true and living God.
